Becket Cook Biography
When he was in elementary school, Becket Cook started having some unusual feelings. He was attracted to members of the same sex. Cook felt fearful and shameful because he lived in a society that did not tolerate homosexual behavior. He struggled with the feeling for years until in high school where his feelings finally spilled out.
Cook ended up becoming friends with a guy who was also struggling with the same problem. At the age of 14, they started going to gay clubs. After college, Becket traveled to Tokyo with his best friend. While in Japan, Becket fell in love with his roommate’s friend.
Falling in love with a man prompted Becket to accept his identity as gay. In his mind, Cook had come to the finding of his true identity. However, this was only the beginning of his journey to finding Jesus Christ, becoming straight, and exposing the reality of the lgbtq agenda.
Becket Cook Accepting He Was Gay
He opened up to his family, friend, and relatives. Although his parents disagreed with him identifying as gay, they showed him love and accepted him as he was. Becket returned to Los Angeles from Tokyo and made friends with other gay people. He started dating and got into at least five relationships.
He confessed to thinking starting a relationship would give him a purpose, which he desperately needed. However, during a party in Paris, Becket felt an overload of emptiness, which made him realize that he could not go on living like that.
Six months after the party, Becket went with his best friend to their usual coffee shop where they met a group of young people sitting with their Bibles on the table. Although Becket felt awkward and repulsive, he gathered the courage to face them.
He turned to them and asked their opinion about homosexuality. They gently answered that homosexuality was a sin. The young men invited him to Reality Church in LA, an option he agreed to despite feeling as if he was betraying his group.
Becket Cook’s Encounter with God
The following Sunday, Cook gathered the courage to attend the church. As the Pastor preached on Romans 7, the message became very clear and convicting to Becket. During the worship moment after the prayer, The spirit of God hovered over him and introduced himself to Becket. Cook, surprised beyond imagination, fell down and started crying. He had never experienced such as joyous moment.
Later when he went home, The Lord appeared to him in a similar way. The feeling was fulfilling to Becket. He became convinced of the reality of Jesus and the sin of identifying as gay. His encounter with the Spirit of God convinced him to leave his old life and follow Jesus.
Leaving homosexuality and embracing Christianity affected his life and relationship with his friends. They separated from him because they referred to him as a betrayer. Becket wrote a book called A Change of Affection: A Gay Man’s Incredible Story of Redemption and released in 2019. The book was widely accepted among Christians but rejected among homosexuals and transgender. It also got him canceled from Holly Wood because it was against their beliefs.
