Susan Cain is an American author and lecturer. She is the founder of Quiet Revolution an organization that educates people about lifestyle, workplace relations, and parenting. Cain is also the author of 3 New York Bestselling books.

Susan Cain Age and Personal Life

Susan was born Susan Horowitz in a family of three children living in Nassau County, New York. Her date of birth is 20th March 1968. She celebrated her 54th birthday in 2022.

Susan is the wife of Ken Cain, a writer, and former UN peacekeeper. The couple met in 2003 when Susan had quit her job as an attorney and Ken was about to publish his book. Although Ken was more experienced in writing, he reacted positively when Susan submitted to him poems she had written.

Ken’s reaction encouraged her to practice writing. Susan acknowledges her husband’s efforts in making her the writer she is today. Ken was instrumental in writing her first book, Quiet, and in preparing for her first TED Talk video which went viral. The couple has a close relationship. They were blessed with three children.

Cain was passionate about education from a young age. She went to Princeton University in 1989 where she pursued A.B in English. Later she went to Havard Law School to pursue law, she graduated Juris Doctor.

Susan started her career as an attorney working at Cleary Gottlieb Steen and Hamilton for seven years and later as a consultant for the Negotiation Company. She likened her time as an attorney and consultant to living away from home.

Susan quit her job to pursue her writing dream. In 2005, she wrote a proposal for the book Quiet, which she later published in 2006. Amazon listed the book among New York Bestsellers.

In 2015, more than 2 million copies of the book were sold worldwide. In 2012 Susan applied in TED Talk to share her opinion on Introverts. Surprisingly, the video went viral. As of 2022, the video has garnered 12 million views on TED and 17.1 Million views on TED-ed.

In 2016, Susan released her second book Quiet Power: The Secret Strengths of Introverts. Again, the book was listed as a New York Best Seller. She released her third book, Bittersweet: How Sorrow and Longing Make Us Whole. Her third book was listed among Oprah’s favorite books.

Like her other books, it is a best seller in Hardcover Nonfiction and Combined Print & E-Book Nonfiction categories. Susan has been recognized internationally by big companies such as Toastmasters International, Havard Business Review, and Inc.

In a strategy to reach more people and encourage others to read her books, Cain has several courses and quizzes on her website. These resources aim at allowing people to be vulnerable and open about things they are afraid to share with others.
