Heather is a Tennessee native. Her father, together with his three brothers served in the United States Army during the Second World War. Waliga never got time to spend with her father. However, she appreciates him every year when America is celebrating veterans. Heather has two siblings. Her younger sister, Casie, born in 2008, has a rare condition called Down Syndrome. The condition encouraged Heather to participate in community work dealing with Down Syndrome. Heather’s family started Casie Crusaders Initiative in 2010 with an aim of raising awareness of Down Syndrome.

The 30-something-year-old is a married woman. She got married to her husband on 2nd June 2012. They celebrated 10 years anniversary in 2022. The union is blessed with two girls: One born in 2017 the other in 2020.

Heather went to Karns High School and later to the University of Tennesse, Knoxville where she did a bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, and related programs. She graduated Magna cum laude.
Her first job was at WBIR where she worked as an intern while in school. After graduation, she joined a local NBC Station in Panama City where she produced, anchored and wrote her stories. She later joined State Wide Cable News Network where she worked as an anchor. Her major stories were the March on Wall Street south and Democratic National Convention in 2012. In February 2013, Waliga joined ABC11 Eyewitness News as an anchor and reporter. In March 2018, she rejoined WBIR as a morning anchor. The reason for leaving ABC was to work closer to her family.
