Elizabeth Ovesen Biography
Elizabeth Ovesen is a three-times best-selling author, essayist, senior copywriter, and now an upcoming keynote speaker. She has been invited to speak at colleges and universities. Previously, she worked at book publishers such as HarperCollins and Hachette Book Group. Prior to becoming a professional, Elizabeth was a video vixen, actress, and model. She went by the pen name Karrine Steffans. She went further and started a publishing company called Steffans Publishing. However, the pen name was to live for ten years. She went back to her birth name Elizabeth Ovesen. Elizabeth claimed that her pen name Karrine Steffans had served its time.

Growing up, Elizabeth had a difficult and traumatic childhood. She was born on 24th August 1978 in St. Thomas. The 44-year-old described her parents and careless people who did not have time for their children. She endured poverty, emotional and physical abuse from her addict mother and indifferent father. When she was 13, Elizabeth became a victim of rape. All this trouble contributed to the person she became afterward. At age 16, she became a stripper and lived in the streets of New York and Arizona. She then had a relationship with rapper Kool G Rap, whom with she had a child. However, the relationship turned sour. The rapper became violent and abusive to Ovesen leading her to leave it. In 2009, Elizabeth got into another relationship with Darius Creston McCrary, an actor, rapper, and singer. The relationship, however, ended in divorce.
Elizabeth Ovesen Education and Career
Elizabeth has been a strong and ambitious woman from a young age. She knew earlier on that education would play a significant role in leading her to success. While still having her child and no support from her family, she worked part-time and paid for educational fees at Arizona State University where she was pursuing a degree in English and Creative writing.
Graduating led her to work at HarperCollins Publishers as a Copywriter. She proofread, edited, and wrote engaging and informative content depending on the demands of the clients. She wrote books, covers, social media posts, website promotional material, and emails. In 2007, she joined Hachette Book Group as an Author and Copywriter. Her work was similar to Harper Collins. She Produced clear and compelling copy aimed at increasing sales and penetrating the market. She also edited and proofread book covers and sales catalogs to ensure they meet the customers’ demands.
Elizabeth did the same job when she joined BenBell books in October 2013. That same year she found The Gorgeous Girl’s Guide. The purpose of the group was writing, editing, and copywriting. They wrote content that generated traffic on websites, drove awareness, and increased engagement. In 2020, she joined Medium as a freelance content creator and copywriter. She created content for LEVEL and ZORA on a weekly bases and assisted the design engineer at Medium to improve user experience. In 2022, Elizabeth joined Cart.com as a senior copywriter. As an experienced writer, Elizabeth had the role of writing and editing email marketing campaigns and social media posts to promote an idea proposed by an organization.

Elizabeth’s passion for writing led her to write books that became best sellers. In 2005, she wrote Confessions of a Video Vixen, The Vixen Diaries in 2007, and The Vixen Manual: How to Find, Seduce & Keep the Man You Want in 2009. The three books became a best sellers because they address the topic of sex, especially from a person who had been a victim of sexual abuse, and a video vixen in a music industry that objectified women.
