Janel Forte Biography
Janel Forte is an Atlanta-based correspondent and an award-winning journalist and reporter working for News Nation. Prior to this position, Forter worked at KHOU and WLOX-TV. Through her time as a journalist, she has been able to cover stories, elections, natural disasters, and pandemics, all of which attracted the nation’s attention. She previously worked with Stephanie Simmons and Rekha Muddara at KHOU.

Janel knew the importance of education for her career. She studied hard when she was at L. D. Bell Highschool. later, she joined Cornell University where she did a degree in Communication and Sociology. After graduation, Forte studied for her MBA in Journalism at Northwestern University. Her passion for journalism led her to work at various media outlets in Texas and Atlanta.
She started as a News Intern at Pilot Media where she observed the daily activities in the newsroom and assisted in publishing articles and creating content for the media network. At school, she was the president of Cornell University Black Entertainment where she reported activities in the school and assisted in the development of news related to the school. Her next internship was at Fox News Channel where she had an opportunity to interact and interview people in the field and learn the skills of anchors, editors, and producers.
Janel started working officially at Itaca College Television. She aided in producing and writing scripts for newscasts and sometimes, operating as a one-man band while in the field. In 2015, WLOX-TV hired her as an anchor and reporter for the 6.30 and 8.00 am weekend morning shows. She was also responsible for proving content for the social media pages of the media outlet. Forte joined KHOU as a reporter. She covered the Santa Fe high school shooting and earned an Edward R. Murrow Award. After three years, she left to join NewsNation Network as an Atlanta-based correspondent.
