After graduating, she got her first work experience at ABC as a desk assistant.
She was lucky to work under the mentorship of Michelle Charlesworth and Phil Lipof who taught her the ropes of the industry. Investing in learning from the experiences of people led her to accept an invitation to work at WENY-TV where she would be an anchor and General assignment reporter. She was one of the two minorities in the new room. But, it never intimidated her as she was passionate about progressing in her career.
At WENY, Asha did live reports, ran the organization’s social media, and served as the “One Man Band” General Assignment reporter. Her hard work was recognized when she won two first-place New York Associated Presence for General Excellence in Reporting and Best Interview. After two years, her breakthrough came when she got an opportunity to work at News 12. At News 12, she won an Emmy for doing a live coverage of the Line of Duty Funeral.
Her time at News 12 has been full of interesting coverage. She broke the news when the .S. Supreme Court overturned the landmark Roe v. Wade case, ending nearly 50 years of constitutional protections for abortion, she also covered the story of the victims of the Uvalde Shootings and the subway shooting in St Sunset Park in Brooklyn.
