Sia Nyorkor Biography
Sia Nyorkor is an award-winning anchor and multimedia journalist working for WOIO-TV. Nyorkor is famous for her passion for the media industry and contributions to the industry. She has become a professional through learning while at work and with lessons from experienced journalists. Prior to working at WOIO, Nyorkor served at CBS, KWCH-TV, and New Jersy Network.
Sia Nyorkor Age and Husband
She was born on 20th April 1979 in a Nigerian descent family who raised her and saw her through until she was able to establish herself. Nyorkor is determined to be an effective person in society. She has sacrificed her desire for getting into a relationship to serve the community and the media industry. Sia is currently single.
Sia Nyorkor Education
From a young age, Nyorkor has been a go-getter passionate about bringing a difference in society. She went to elementary studies at St. Lawrence Catholic Elementary School. In 1996, she enrolled at Indiana University in Bloomington where she studied Journalism. For the four years, she was in the school, Sia was a member of the Black Student Union, the school’s ambassador, and a reporter for WTIU-TV. After graduating, she joined the media industry. After 8 years, she went back to school for her MS in journalism at Columbia Univesity. At Columbia, she became a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Columbia University Association of Black Journalists.
Sia Nyorkor Career
After graduating from IU, Sia worked as a staff and freelance make-up artist for MAC Cosmetics. She got her hand at journalism while pursuing her master’s degree. Sia joined MTV News as a Backpack journalist covering important national and local events. She served there for one year and later joined New Jersey Network as a Field and Associate Producer. Sia was behind the production of NJN News, New Jersey Public Radio, and several public affairs programs.
In the ten years she worked here, Nyorkor earned the CINE Golden Eagle award and a New York Emmy for my work on “The Race For Open Space. Later in 2005, she covered Liberian Elections and received a United Nations/National Association of Black Journalists fellowship. She left NJN to join Gainesville CBS4 as a reporter and managing editor where she led the editorial meetings, supervised, and edited the firm’s social media pages.
Nyorkor joined KWCH as a reporter two years later. Here, she wrote stories, edited new packages, produced content, and had live and on-the-field interviews. In 2015, she got the chance to join WOIO. Here she has been successful as she has won an award for The Next 400: #DefendBlackWomen. She was also awarded a Genesis Award for Outstanding TV News Series from the Humane Society for a series of my reports on the death of a police K-9 here in Northeast Ohio. Her latest award was the national Gracie awards for leading in the production of The Next 400: #DefendBlackWomen,” & “The Next 400: Digging into the Tangled Roots of Black Hair Culture.”In her career, Sia had the opportunity to the Republican National Convention and the 2016 Presidential Elections.

Working as a journalist has earned her a good name in society. She is a leader and a member of several communities and civic organizations. On top of that, Nyorkor can afford a decent living from the approximately $80,000 salary she makes at WOIO. Her physical attributes are also a plus for her exceptional skills. She is 5 feet and 7 inches tall.
She is a member of The National Association of Black Journalists. In August 2022, she was elected as Parliamentarian for the 2022-2024 term. She previously served as the region II director, student project mentor, and former NABJ Producer.
