Tamika Alexander is a journalist working at WVUA 23 as a Senior News Anchor. She has worked at the institution for over 10 years. Through the years, Tamika has learned skills that made her valuable not only to the media industry but also to society. Alexander also worked as the referral director of the United Way of West Alabama.

In an interview with Alabama Newscenter, she confessed that her father taught her the importance of a strong work ethic. Tamika is also a married woman. Alexander always wanted to be a journalist since childhood. She would walk around in the morning reading newspaper and listening to other people’s stories to get their perspectives on certain issues. She went to Central High School and later the University of Alabama where she did a degree in Broadcast Journalism.
Getting a job was not difficult as she was certain of the type of job she wanted. Alexander started as an intern at WVUA 23, which at that time was called WJRD. She worked her way until she was offered permanent employment. Tamika served as an associate producer, reporter, and anchor. As a producer, she received an award from the Alabama Associated Press Broadcaster association for Best Regularly Scheduled Newscast.
Alexander plays a key role in the Tuscaloosa community. Her aim is always to impact the community positively. She is a member of Elevate Tuscaloosa Advisory Committee and the Chamber of Commerce women’s leadership allowance. In 2017, Alexander was recognized as the Most Intriguing Person by Tuscaloosa Magazine. Tuscaloosa News named her as a Top 40 Under 40 Business Professional in 2018.
