Katie Lusso is an American journalist working as a reporter, fill-in anchor, and producer for WUSA 9. She is a highly dependable journalist famous for her passion for delivering authentic news. Katie has had previous experience at News 12 where she worked for more than 10 years, and at WDTV. The Emmys, AP, and Deadline Club have also recognized her contributions to the journalism field.

Before graduating she got an internship opportunity at News 12 Long Island where she learned news production, editing, and studio arrangement. After three months of looking for a job since graduating, Lusso got one in March of 2010 as a general assignment reporter for WDTV in Bridgeport. Her responsibilities were shooting, writing, and editing stories. Her passion for the work got her a promotion to the level of a weekend anchor and producer. She anchored 6 and 11 o’clock news on weekends and did reporter duties during the weekdays.
After two years, she got an opportunity at New 12 as a morning reporter. She was also a fill-in anchor for News 12 Brooklyn and News 12 the Bronx. She served in this position for 10 plus years traveling across New York and the Nation gathering news and updating the network’s audience on the current happenings in the nation, state, and local area. On 7th September 2022, she announced on her Instagram that she was leaving News 12 for another opportunity. Two weeks later she announced her arrival at WUSA 9 where she serves as an anchor and reporter.
Lusso has covered events that have had the nation and the state’s interest. She covered the demonstrations after the killing of George Floyd, she also covered the election of former president Donal Trump and his inauguration, and she did coverage of President Joe Bidens campaign and the ultimate victory in the elections. While at News 12, she won a NY Emmy award with her colleagues for covering a storm. In 2017, she won a NY Emmy Award for the series Bravo! Brooklin. She was also recognized by the Associated Press Club and the Deadline Club.
