Erick Centeno Biography
Every famous artist had a skill that made them Unique from the others. Recent advancement in information and technology is introducing new and complex skills. For Bisa Butler, quilting is her expertise but Erick Centeno Oblitas is a scribbling expert. His work has been featured at Biennale Genova 2019 “Dancing Heart”, Design and Fly 2019 Volotea event, Art Expo 2018, 5^ Contemporary art exhibition in Genoa and International contemporary art exhibition, Italy 2017 Satura art Gallery.
Erick Centeno is an Italian-based artist expert in scribbling techniques. Centeno was born on 2nd February 1982 in Peru. He started as a devoted student as a computer technician and later studied business administration. Centeno was living a life far from what he was to become in the future. However, his passion for art took the better part of him than his studies.
His desire to become an artist started in childhood. He learned the art by observing his father who was also an artist. As a child, his father made drawing for him and asked him to recreate them. The drawings were simple and sketchy but to Centeno, they were the makings of a great artist.
Things changed in 1999 when Erick traveled to Italy. What started as a hobby became an obsession. The young artists started making art from what he observed in society. He created his own drawing style and trained himself in other techniques.
Erick Centeno Techique
For more than 20 years, Centeno has become an Isaac Newton at his craft. In an interview with Arteza, he confessed to constantly improving despite appearing to have reached his best level. He stated, he finds inspiration from perfecting his style through practice and exploring new forms of art.
Initially, he made realistic portraits using a pencil and paper. The style, however, evolved as he began incorporating other materials such as different surfaces, colors, pens, and new materials. His favorites are paper and ink pens. Erick was later attracted to the scribble technique which fused it with the style he learned as a child. His scribbling technique features realistic portraits and uncontrolled lines that all give focus to the central image.
Erick Centeno Community Work
Erick has become a successful artist and an inspiration to young artist seeking to learn his skills. He advises young artists to be consistent and intentional about learning their craft and becoming better. When asked if he always loved all his art, Erick confessed that he disliked some of them but completed them despite his feelings.
Centeno features some of his art on Instagram where he has managed to attract close to 100k followers and an average of 1,000 like per drawing. Some of his popular art is Dancing heart featured in Satura, Palazzo Stella. His work has been featured in Mazgoid Global, Photographize, and the RSA Journal.
