David joined Appalachian State University and majored in communication and journalism. He also served as the sports reporter for The Appalachian, a student-managed newspaper. He covered games, featured in writing, did sports predictions, and produced clean copy. David was also the staff editor for The Peel, a literary magazine for the school. He led the team that reviewed and edited poems submitted by the students.
Career
After graduating he joined examiner.com. His role was covering Charlotte Bobcast and other NBA events. David J Sentendrey featured stories and developed unique storylines. Still, at this time, he was working as a freelance self-employed writer. He did publications for Creative Loafing, Elevate Lifestyle, and Sports Yapp. He covered subjects such as sports, lifestyle, and entertainment. David was also working part-time as a correspondent for The Enquire Journal where he did feature wiring, news, and game summaries for High School and Collegiate Sports.
He joined the Fox family in 2013 as an investigative reporter. There, he continued perfecting his craft. He learned to write scripts, research, and create stories. He formed a relationship with the community and local authorities to learn of events happening in society. While working for FOX 46, he won an Emmy Award for Journalistic Enterprise and reporter of the year as awarded by the Radio and Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas.
In November 2019, he joined FOX 4 at KDFW as an on-air reporter. The station tasked him with reporting live during 9 and 10 pm news. He was also responsible for writing newscasts and creating stories. He worked closely with people on the field, allowing them to do the news for the audience. In 2021, he got an Emmy Award for Daily News Report.
