Education
Heather has had a passion for journalism for years. She joined The Ohio State University for a degree in journalism and a minor in sociology. She was a member of the Journalism Teaching staff tasked with writing, editing, and producing news for the school’s print, The Lanter. Heather also got an internship opportunity at WCMH-TV where she wrote stories, reported, and assisted in doing shoots. Together with other black students doing journalism, Heather co-founded the pioneer group of the National Association of Black Journalists.
After graduating, Heather joined the University of Southern California for her master’s in Broadcast Journalism. She was a member of the USC Annenberg School for Communication and served as a Radio Show Host covering economical, educational, and social issues in South Los Angeles. Heather was also a profile writer and noted events in the school and outside. She interned as a foreign correspondent based in London for CBS News. She did interviews, helped in production, and worked at the assignment desk. Hope also got another internship opportunity at KNBC Los Angeles as an investigative reporter.
Career
Her work kickstarted at Bakersfield, California Area at KGET where she was a reporter. Hope did live reports at 5 and 6 pm and wrote articles from the website daily. After 1 year, she relocated to Oklahoma City to work as a reporter for KWTV. She served there for 2 years writing and pitching stories before joining KFMB Stations and also as a reporter.
She has worked the longest at KFMB. In 2022, Heather announced her arrival at ABC 8 News where she would be serving as a 4 PM News anchor. She has covered the story of a school shooting involving a 6-year-old student who shot his teacher at Richneck Elementary School, the shooting of 3 UVA college football killed by a former teammate, and the remembrance of Queen Elizabeth II.
