The Journey to the Top
Her journey to becoming a leader at Lanier High School and later at Texas Southern University where she pursued communications journalism and a minor in public relations. In 2010, she studied Women’s Campaign at Yale University.
The journey to becoming who she is became solid when she was an intern at the United States Congress for Congressman Chet Edwards. Later she joined The Investigative Firm as an investigative associate, she worked there for 3 years before joining the Public Affairs office in Harris County. At the County Clerk’s office, Tanisha started as an Administrative Aid for 7 months and later special project coordinator for a year and a voter outreach coordinator for 11 years. In 2019, she was made the Director of communications.
The same year, Tanisha became the first Chief Deputy for Harris County after County Clerk Diane Trautman who later resigned for health reasons. In 2020, Hudspeth announced she would be running for office. Hundreds of thousands of people responded to her call and voted for her in the highly contested elections. Again in 2022, she won the elections to hold the office for another term.
