Julie Luck Biography
All of us are guilty of assuming journalists are beyond human normal experiences. It gets us by surprise when a journalist is going through a story that is normally human. In this article, we are going to a biography of Julie Luck. She is an Emmy Award-winning journalist currently working at WFMY News 2 as an evening anchor.
She is a veteran journalist having worked for more than 20 years. Luck is a professional at storytelling, interviewing skills, and reporting. In her career as a journalist, she faced colon cancer, which threatened her life and her career. Her experience reminded viewers of her nature as a human. It also gave hope to those going through the same because she survived the ordeal.
Julie Luck Age and Husband
Julie Luck is 51 or 52 years old born on 30th August. She is a Southern Californian native born to Chinese and Filipino parents. Growing up, Julie was an active child in class and in extra curriculum activities. As an adult, Julie reflected the same traits. excelling in her career became her greatest endeavor. She got married on August 29 2009 to John. Their marriage, however, has been childless.
Education and Career
She began pursuing her desire to become a journalist at the University of California Berkley where she did a degree in Liberal Arts. As a student, she was active in the cheerleading squad in the school’s NBA.
She was also a cheerleader for Golden State Warriors. Julie later joined Emerson College where she did a master’s in Journalism.
Her career as a journalist started in Bangor, Maine Area where she was a reporter and Anchor for WFVX. After 1 year she joined WPDE TV 15 as a morning news anchor. Like in her previous employment, she worked there for 1 year and moved to Portland to work as a General Assignment reporter.
In 2001, Julie moved to San Francisco Bay Area where she was a reporter and Weekend News Anchor for KRON 4 News. She served there for 4 years and later moved to Greensboro to work as an evening news anchor for 7 years. In 2013, she made her final settlement to date when she joined News 2 as an evening anchor.
Her time as a journalist has been involved in covering news that has had national and international impact. She has been awarded several times for doing the reports. While working for WGHP she did a story about teenage pregnancy which received an Emmy nomination.
Julie has been named Best Female News Personality twice. While working for WFMY, the journalist received 2 more Emmy nominations for co-anchoring newscasts. Julie was also featured as a news reporter in the movie Olympians: The Lighting Thief and Percy Jackson.
Battling Cancer
In Late January 2022, Julie went to a usual screening routine only to be diagnosed with stage 3a cancer. The news came as a surprise to the then 50-year-old who was living a healthy life, did not smoke. regularly exercised and had no family history of cancer.
She went through chemotherapy and infusion to remove the cancer that had spread to her lymph nodes. Julie shared her cancer treatment journey on air to raise awareness about the disease. Her decision was received with alot of love and positivity.
Many prayed for her and sent cards to her wishing her recovery. After 5 months of battling cancer, she did a lab test that showed positive results. Julie went for a 10k marathon and returned to work on June 8, 2022. She went from battling cancer to surviving it.
Anchievements
June 2023 will be 1 year after returning to work. She is far from being declared cured but every lab test shows improvements. Soon she will be free. She is an example of resiliency. Julie is not only an inspiration to those battling cancer but also to young journalists. Her strength and stamina give hope to them.
She is especially an inspiration to Asian Americans. As a journalist, she has continued excelling. She still excels in her storytelling skills and is one of the highest-paid anchors. Her annual salary could be $100,000. Julie Luck can be considered a veteran journalist alongside Carrie Sharp, Patricia Boal, and Sher-Min Chow.
