Heather Butts Biography
Excelling in any career requires passion, commitment, and discipline. Heather Butts displayed these three virtues and her career has been constant growth after growth. She is currently working as a News Correspondent at CTV News. Before sitting in the correspondent spot, Heather worked as a weather host, reporter, anchor, video journalist, and Media Relations Coordinator. She is one of the few journalists who we can say was born for TV.

She is a Kinmount native born on 17th July 1987. The 36-year-old comes from a family of five children raised in a waterski-oriented family. She followed the same passion as her sibling and soon she found herself on TV. Butss is also a lover of family. She is married to Reid Morrison. She loves family and you will always find her spending time with her nieces and nephews whom she calls “little ones”.
Heather Butts Education and Career
Once she realized her passion for TV, she began pursuing it. Heather started at Humber College for a diploma in journalism. She later joined the University of Guelph for a degree in Communication and Media Studies.
After graduating, Heather Butts volunteered at Vanoc as a Media Relations Coordinator whose responsibilities were organizing press conferences, doing interviews, and media events. While volunteering she got an opportunity to be part of the team covering the 2010 Paralympics.
Heather started working at Chex Tv as a video journalist was was tasked with creative stories, reporting on community, culture, and events around the Peterborough area. While in these duties, she learned to write, edit and shoot stories.
Heather later moved to Kingston to work as a producer, videographer, and anchor. Her duties were writing, editing, and setting up interviews. She also had opportunities to sit behind the anchor desk.
She worked there for 3 years before getting an opportunity to join Shaw TV as a host and producer of the Sea to Sky Show where she was responsible for reaching out to the community to showcase the events and activities happening in the area.
After 1 year, she moved to Barried as a news anchor, reporter, and weather host for CTV Barrie. Her time at CTV was exciting as she had the privilege of doing weather on weekends. She learned to generate weather reports, and weather graphics and update weather trends. Heather served at Barrie for 3 years before moving to Halifax.
She joined CTV Atlantic as a morning news anchor and reporter. She moved from doing evening news straight to morning. Heather adapted to the new schedules and excelled at her new role. She collected news from all segments. She also did live discussions and group segments on the morning show.
In 2020, she moved to the headquarters in Toronto as an anchor for CTV News Day on Quibi. She worked 8 months before getting promoted to News Correspondent for CTV Toronto.
Heather Butts Success and Salary
Her journey as a journalist has been attributed to interesting opportunities such as covering the 2020 national elections. She also had the opportunity to speak with Canadian Special Olympic athletes who emerged at the top during the Special Olympics World Games 2023. She also wrote an article on how Canadais were impacted after writers in the US had a strike. Heather also did a story about the discovery of an Earth-like planet covered in volcanoes.
Heather Butts is one of the influential journalists working for CTV. Her expertise was seen as early as 16 years ago when she was working with Ski Mazing Watersport. She also worked as a learning facilitator at the Canadian Watersport Instructors and in the Sports Development Division.
Having this experience growing, Heather has maintained her love for skiing since. She goes skiing and traveling with her friends when she is not working.
