Annie grew an interest in figure skating because her mother was a coach. She started practicing as early as a high school student at Ashbury College. Her interest in figure skating was still visible even after joining the University of Toronto for a degree in Physical Education, Health, and Kinesiology and a minor in political science. Her first two years in school were busy because she had to juggle classes and 3 to 4 hours of practicing figure skating with her coach because she was competing at provincial and national levels.

Early in college, Annie thought she would become a physiotherapist or a sports psychologist but as she neared graduation she began developing an interest in the country’s politics. She started taking minor courses in political science.

In her final year, she made the decision to become a journalist. After graduating, she moved to New York to study for a master’s degree in broadcast journalism at Columbia University. She also went to The Hebrew University of Jerusalem where she did an intensive two-month course in Journalism and Middle Eastern History.

She interned at CBC Television in the editing and production department where she learned to transcribe and shoot field reports. After 6 months, she joined Sports Illustrated as a digital intern whose duties were doing interviews, writing segments for the weekly press, and creating content for social media platforms.

Annie got her first job as a news writer for City News. She wrote news articles daily, did voiceovers and occasionally filled in as a reporter. After 6 months, Annie joined Huffington Post as a blogger for Jerusalem, New York, and Ottawa. She covered news like the reason international media houses are poaching journalists from Kenya.

After working for close to two years, her interest in politics got her a job at iPolitics Canada as a parliamentary reporter where she covered political news like press conferences, party conventions, and political campaigns. In 2014, she moved to CTV News where she started as a local reporter for news in Ottawa and later got promoted to political reporter for CTV National News.
