Although he had graduated with a degree in communication studies, Lance Devereux found passion in event planning, interior designing, and decoration. His passion gradually became his source of wealth, fame, and affluence. Now, he works with celebrities and has been featured in some of the popular media outlets in the country.

The two met at the University of North Carolina Charlotte where Lance was coordinating male models. When Antonio came as a tryout, they clocked eyes and love-struck both of them. They took their connection to Facebook and soon they started dating. On Antonio’s 28th birthday, Lance proposed to him at a surprise dinner in Paris. They got married in May 2021 after dating for 14 years.

Growing up Lance had the normal dream of an American kid. He wanted to study at UNC-Charlotte for a degree in communications and public relations.
After graduating, he got an internship opportunity at Cabarrus County 4H as a public relations intern. In 2008, he worked as a director at Sylvan Learning Center where he was engaged in marketing activities, investigating and solving customer issues, and initiating human resource processes.
In 2014, he joined Met Life as an underwriter who evaluated insurance applications and participated in training insurance business, medical concepts, customer service, and business systems.
While at Met Life, Lance was working part-time as a decorator but work was increasing as he became known for his stylistic approaches to designing. He launched his organization Designs by Devereux. He became serious about creating one-in-a-lifetime moments and unique experiences at weddings, thanksgiving, baby showers, and company openings. He left his job in 2016 and went full-time in his own business.
His big, bold, and Vibrant approach to designing has had him working with clients like Quavo, Da Brat, Cynthia Bailey, and Rasheeda Frost. His work has been featured in The Knot, Munaluchi Bride, Black Bride, and others.
Lance Devereux Success
One of his greatest achievements was when he was featured on the VH1 reality show My Celebrity Dream Wedding. He competed with more than 300 decor experts and emerged among the top 3 after 6 months of interviews. On the show, he worked with Tori Williams and Courtney Ajinca to design a wedding for a couple that had a budget of $15,000. They surprised the couple by doing a wedding of $1.7 million inspired by Gucci Mane’s wedding.
The experience at the reality show exposed Lance to a different level of interior and decoration design. He became intentional with the type of service he provides and his clientele. He raised his budget from working with anyone and started to work with clients with over $75,000 as budget. The most he has ever worked with is a budget of $200,000 for DJ Humphries’s wedding. His dream is to plan for Obama and do Oprah Winfrey’s Legends Ball.
Lance has also been recognized by being nominated as Designer of the Year in 2019 and won an award for Designer of the Year at the 2020 B Collective Awards. He has gone further in his business by showing an interest in educating others in his craft.
He hosts a 3 day floral and event design master class where he educates his students on the ins and outs of the business. He also hopes to tap into their creativity as they aspire to that their individual business.
