Kobe Campbell Biography
Christians are viewed as the light of society. Pressure piles on them to direct and show others the way. Many times we forget that they are people and are vulnerable to similar problems as other people. One silent killer among Christians and many others is mental health issues triggered by depression, anxiety, and childhood trauma. For a long time, Kobe Campbell suffered from mental health issues despite growing up a Christian.
She made a u-turn in her life when she hit rock bottom almost ending her life after she got tired of fighting her traumas for years. The turn she took completely changed her life and now she wants others to learn from her experience. She is a licensed trauma therapist, speaker, author, and the founder of The Healing Circle Therapy and Wellness Center.
Kobe Campbell Age and Husband
Kobe Campbell was born on 18th March 1993. Her parents are descendants of Ghana but relocated to the United States. She grew up in a Christian but lived as a distant good Christian. As she grew, she became more serious about her relationship with Jesus and became bold about him.
Kobe has followed in her parent’s footsteps. She got married to Kyle, a kid to a pastor who runs the biggest black church in North Carolina. The two got married in August 2017 and had two children as of 2023.
In an interview with XoNecole, Kylie said that he met with Kobe at a club and danced with her all night. He later met her at a Bible Study a year later and their love journey kicked off. In their story of how they met, Kobe does not recall dancing with Kyle but does remember dancing with someone. She remembers meeting with Kyle in the Bible Study for the first time where their series of interactions began.
Kobe confessed to having difficulties saying yes to Kyle because she thought of him being too good for her because he was a pastor’s kid and fairer women were after him. These women were also vocal about disliking the fact that Kyle had chosen Kobe over them. Once she learned that God had called her for him, she said yes and their relationship started.
Kobe Campbell Education and Work
Somehow, Kobe grew up with an interest in learning how the human mind operates but never knowing her actual calling. She went to the University of North Carolina Wilmington where she did a degree in Psychology. As a student, she realized her true calling for the body of Christ. In 2015, she enrolled for a master’s degree in Mental Health Counselling at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
After graduating, she worked as an Autism behavioral consultant but switched to her calling when she founded The Healthy Circle Therapy Fund and The Healing Circle Therapy and Wellness Center.
Kobe Campbell Story
Her journey to becoming a mental health counselor started when she was a victim of mental health issues. Like many of her clients, Kobe confessed in an interview with Popsugar that for many years, she pushed her trauma under the rug, thinking she could numb her pain away. But as she grew, the pain increased.
She wanted to be loved, validated, and appreciated but all she got was rejection, restlessness and constantly feeling fatigued. In 2013, Kobe got tired of fighting and decided to end her life. Before she could commit suicide, a friend reached out to her via a text message, which encouraged her. She felt seen and accepted.
Kobe made a decision to try one more time because she had found a person who accepted her when she was at fault. She realized that there was more of this live out there. It made her realize the misconceptions she had lived at the hands of religion.
Many times she thought her depression came from a lack of prayer, bible study and fellowship only to realize that this mindset only caused her more problems. Instead of living a religious life, Kobe embarked on a journey of cultivating a relationship with Jesus.
Truly, her experience and decision to have a relationship with God healed and transformed her life. She became intentional about her decisions, relationships, and time. When she founded Healing Circle, her intention was to reach thousands of people of color, especially Christians, who were victims of mental health because of addressed issues.
She began sharing her journey, and lessons on Instagram with her friends. She began being called to speak at events, conferences, and churches where people needed to hear a message to heal their souls. She has spoken at conferences like the Mom Ference and at churches like New Beginning Christian Church and The Fellowship of Love Church. Her story has also been featured on Pop Sugar, Good Morning America, Essence, Bustle, Cheddar, and BuzzFeed.
