She was born on 11th May 1990 in Elmhurst. Kylen Mills is an older sister to Kendra Kepple and daughter to Keith and Lori Mills. Kylen is married to her long-time friend and colleague at LEX TV, Charlie Walter, 31. The two got married in 2022, in a luxurious wedding attended by family and close friends. Two years now into their marriage, the couple is yet to have children.
Education and Career
Her passion for journalism started at York Comm High School where she took broadcasting classes and had the opportunity to anchor the school’s morning announcements. She later joined Lewis University to pursue broadcast journalism. Although she was passionate about broadcasting, her love for sports was also clear. She played tennis for one season and Division II soccer. She practiced her journalism skills when she was a reporter for the school’s TV station, doing coverages of basketball and volleyball games. Kylen Mills also had the opportunity to write for the school’s newspaper and work as a student tour guide.
As a student, Kylen interned at ABC 7 News as a producer and later at WGN TV in the Midday News.
After graduating, Kylen joined WHBF as a reporter for 2 years before working for another 2 years as a reporter for FOX 25 News. Five years into journalism, Kylen Mills was preoccupied with general news but she moved back to her passion when she joined LEX TV in the department of sports.
She co-hosted the SEC football show and anchored sports events like Kentucky basketball March Madness Games, PGA Golf Tournaments, and Kentucky Derby. She also learned to digitally produce content. In 2020, she moved to KRON TV as a sports reporter where she reported on major sports teams like the 49ers, Earthquakes, Giants, and Warriors. Kylen also co-hosted Sports Night Live and the basketball show Hoop Session.

From 2022 to 2023, she freelanced as a sports reporter and analyst for VISTA, San Jose State University, and Pac Networks. She later got an opportunity at NBC Sports Bay Area where she hosts live pre and post games shows for Baseball.
Over her close to 10 years of experience as a journalist, some of her best coverage are the Oklahoma City Bombing, President Obama’s Visit, and the Western Conference Finals. Her work continuously makes her a reliable source of sports information. She has also become an expert at doing interviews and creating digital content.
Despite the negative comments about women who are in sports journalism, Kylen alongside other sports journalists like Lindsey Pallares and Sara Hodges, have stuck to their guts and people are loving their knowledge of the game. When Mills is not working, she volunteers by playing basketball and coaching kids. She also loves traveling and spending time with her family.
