Passion for sports does not necessarily translate to playing as an athlete. Writing, analyzing, and reporting about sports is another indication of the love of sports and Casey Buscher knows this well. Her passion for sports gravitated her towards sports as a journalist. Now, she is working as a digital content creator and a team reporter for Dallas Wings and Panther City Lacrosse Club.
Personal Details
She was born on 8th August 1996. From a young age, Casey displayed a love for sports. Her passion for sports was clear when she joined Texas Tech University to Study Electronic Media and Communication and a minor in public relations. She later joined S.I Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University where she pursued a master’s in Broadcast Journalism with an emphasis on sports.
Although she was intrigued with sports, other social and personal matters were taking shape in her life. She volunteered as a worship leader at First Baptist Church in Lubbock, a public announcer at Trinity Christian High School, and a student assistant for Dallas Mavericks. Her personal life thrived as she also found a life partner. We observed that Casey is in a relationship with fellow sports journalist, Daniel Goldberg.
She began practicing her sports journalism skills at Texas Tech University as the Women’s Basketball Manager where she worked at the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships. She also liaised with the Athletic communication office and the media for updates happening in school sports.
She helped manage the school’s website, interview coaches, work on press conferences, and transcribe important points. Before graduating, she interned at Texas Rangers Baseball Club, Cumulus Media, and FOX34-KJTV.
While at Syracuse University, she worked her skills as an MMJ at NCC News in the department of production and filming. She also had an instance as an anchor and reporter on the live show, Mornings on the Hill. Casey also served as a sideline reporter for Syracuse Athletics and produced content for CUSE TV.
She learned to interview players, coaches, and alumni. Before concluding her master’s degree, she had worked as a sideline reporter for ESPN and as a digital reporter at WPRI and Fox Providence.
Sports Career
Her experience at several media houses prepared her for her full-time job, which she got as a sports anchor and reporter at Fox West Texas where she did stories on high school and college sports. In 2020, she joined KSBY in San Louis Obispo as a sports director tasked with creating the Friday Night Show and anchoring sports news at 6, 10, and 11.
After 2 years, Buscher got an opportunity to serve as a sideline sports reporter for Dallas Wings and Panther City Lacrosse Club. Her duties are to create digital content for both teams. To do her job, Casey has to interview players pre and post-game matches, interview coaches, and continuously update players’ news on the website and social media pages. She also manages the calendars and oversees communications.
Her love for sports has now turned her into the go-to person for sports news. She is always updated with the latest news happening in sports, especially Dallas Wings and Panther City. She has witnessed times events like When the Rangers won the World Series Champion, the game between the Cowboys and Dolphins, 2023 WNBA All-Star.
Casey has also had the privilege to interview coach Latricia Trammell, Dallas Wings President Greg Bibb, the first Mexican player to join the WNBA, Lou Lopez Senechal, and Veronica Burton who talks about her family as one of the most decorated in the world of sports.
Casey’s passion for sports is inspiring as it leads other young women to covet the opportunity she has and also details the influence of sports involving women. Her passion has also been seen with other female sports enthusiasts Like Katie Engelson and Melissa Kim.
