Every journalist desires to bring people the most valuable news. Many times we demand a lot from their genuine desires that we forget that they are human as well. In this article, we are doing a biography of Jenna Cottrell. She is a sideline reporter for the Buffalo Bills and a sports anchor at 13WHAM, an ABC/FOX affiliate. She has also served at WENY TV and a student reporter at Syracuse University. More than her professional job, Jenna is a cancer survivor, a story that reminds us that journalists are people as much as we are.
Jenna Cottrell was born on 31st January 1991 in Springs. She is the last-born daughter born to Ben and Vallarie Cottrel. Jenna is a sibling to Garret and Alissa who are twins. She grew up with a passion for sports and journalism, which she combined when she was a student at Syracuse University pursuing Broadcast Journalism. As a student, she interned at WTEN and also WRGB as a sports intern. She also served in the school’s TV as a sports reporter. All through, she has been succeeding in her endeavors. She also announced her union with her long-time lover Zach.
Career
After graduating, she started working for ESPN in the production department. She later got a job at WENY TV as a sports anchor and reporter. After serving there for 5 years, she moved to Rochester New York to serve as a sports reporter for WHAM, an ABC affiliate. She also got an opportunity to work as a sideline reporter for the Buffalo Bills.
Her main job has been staying updated with events unfolding in the sports industry. As a sideline reporter, she gets to have one-on-one sessions with players and coaches. Jenna is also the young lady with a camera shooting all live events and looking for an opportunity to have a conversation with players.
In 2017, she was rammed by Tampa Bay Buccaneers’s Mike Evans while video recording the march. The collision appeared to be painful but Jenna got back up, laughed at it, and went on shooting. The hit was among the several occasions where players hit journalists.
Battle with Cancer
Surviving the hit is just an example of Jenna’s tough personality. In 2019, she was diagnosed with Stage IV Hodgkins Lymphoma. Jenna went through 12 rounds of chemotherapy and in August, scans revealed that she was cancer-free. Her win over cancer is the second case in the family after her big brother Garret also suffered from the disease but emerged victorious.
Due to her experience with cancer, Jenna helps in raising funds for children battling cancer. She has a desire to help people who are going through the pain she went through. As she excels in health, she is also thriving in her career as with the likes of Katie Engelson and Brianna Amaranthus.
