She studied at the State University of New York for a degree in Media and Communication. At school, Selena was actively involved as a Radio Producer, a writer for the Student Newspaper, and a member of the Student Government.
Her career journey started when she was serving as an intern at Fox 5 doing the work of a reporter and camera operator. She later joined Talking Points Memo as an intern tasked with website maintenance and writing articles.
She got her first job at Amsterdam News as a writer and later at Global Rhyme, owned by Russel Simons. In this station, she honed her talent and skill in addressing matters in society.
