Allyson Felix Biography
Allyson Felix is an American former track and field athlete who hailed between 2003 to 2021. She is one of the greatest women athletes in the United States based on her achievements. Her efforts have been recognized by Time Magazine and during the 2017 World Championship.

Allyson was born on 18th November 1985 in California. Felix took a career path different from her father, who was an ordained minister at The Master’s Seminary. However, her brother, Wes Felix took the same path as he is a sprinter, who won the 2002 USA Junior Championship. She is married to Kenneth Ferguson, a sprinter, and hurdler. Together the couple has a daughter called Camryn.

Felix tried her luck in education but her focus was on running. She started running in 9th grade competing in the 200-meter track and finished in 7th position. Allyson went to Los Angeles Baptist High School in California, where people criticized and nicknamed her Chicken Legs. The insults, however, did not deter her from pursuing her passion. Instead, they became her inspiration to soar. She graduated from high school in 2003 and joined the University of Southern California where she pursued a degree in elementary education.
Career
Allyson’s success in athletics was just an extension of what she had been achieving as a young athlete in high school. At 17 years, Allyson competed at the 2003 US national championship 200 meters sprint and finished second place, giving her the ticket to compete at the 2003 Paris World Championship where she finished sixth. When she was 18, Felix participated in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Greece 200 meter finishing second and setting a world junior record for running the race in 22.18 seconds.
At age 19, she was featured in the 2005 Helsinki World Championship 200 meter. She won the race and became the youngest world champion in the championship. From 2003 to 2013, Allyson focused on running 200-meter sprints. However, she switched gear and started running 400 meters sprint. She also participated in the 100-meter race, 4 X 100 Meters relay, and 4 x 400 meters relay. Allyson’s most iconic performance was at the 2012 US Olympics trials where she ran 200 meters in 21.69 meters, the third fastest time run by a woman in American history, and the 6th fastest female athelete in history.
Allyson Felix Pregnancy and issues with Nike
In December 2018, Felix revealed that she was pregnant. However, she delivered her daughter prematurely because she had a condition called pre-eclampsia. During post-pregnancy, Allyson started complaining about her relationship with Nike. In May 2019, her relationship with Nike, her longtime sponsor turned sour when she accused them of neglecting women’s athletes months into pregnancy. She left the company and joined Gap Inc, which had never sponsored an athlete until Allyson.
Alyson returned to running in July 2019 and participated in US National Championship in the 400 meters sprint and finishing sixth. She participated in the first-ever mixed gender 4 by 400 meters relay with Courtney Okolo, Michael Cherry, and Wil London III and set world record time.

Allyson is now at the sunset of her career journey. She announced that she would retire before the Olympics in Paris. However, she ran her last race in 2022 in front of her family and close friends. Before she retires, Allyson has established herself as a world-renowned athlete by bagging awards and medals. She has received Jesse Owens and Jackie Joyner Kersee Awards five times and received more gold in World Athletics Championship than Usain Bolt. In 2022, Allyson partnered with Voice in Sport to advocate and reach out to the next generation of young women athletes. Her first mentorship program started on 3rd, 2022.
