Pittman’s hand in journalism started while she was a student at Savanna. She was the Anchor and Lead reporter for CH96 Tiger Eye News. Ava was involved in a competition, won, and received an award which earned her an internship opportunity at WJCL ABC.
As an intern, Ava wrote stories and promotions tease. She also participated in shooting stories. After four months, the organization hired her as a general assignment reporter. Her roles were assisting in producing stories, editing videos, attending weekly meetings, and reporting breaking news. After another four months, the company promoted her to the Lead reporter. However, after serving for two years, she left for Morris Publishing Company, Bluffton Today, where she was the Digital Media Manager who managed content for Bluffton Today, The Sun, and Hardeeville Today.
In June 2015, Ava joined PIX11 as an assignment editor. Her work there was successful as she was nominated twice for the 2019 Emmy in the Digital Producer, Assignment Editor category. Ava served at PIX11 for 6 years before leaving for Tribune Media where she had been working part-time. At Tribune, Ava was a production Assitant, Freelance News Writer, and Freelance Digital Content Producer. In 2021, Pittman announced that she would be joining News Nation Network as a Northeast Bureau Field Producer.
