He was born on 22nd August 1996. DeWayne comes from a Christian background where he learned morals and values of life from a young age. His mother was a school teacher while his father was a mental health counselor. Crocker has 6 siblings: 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Moving on to relationships, Crocker is single. Education and Career
Crocker is a gate for blessings in his family. He went to Pensacola State College for a degree in Business. He was the first person in his family to finish college. On his Instagram he said,
There were times I thought I wouldn’t finish because there were bigger goals I wanted to pursue and achieve. The older I get the more I’m reminded that life is what you make of it and no matter what you face STAY STRONG and FINISH. It feels good starting something, but it feels greater when you finish. I’m the first in my family to do it, but I won’t be the last, because my grandma, parents, uncles, aunts, little brothers, sisters, cousins, nephews and nieces all watched me walk across the stage.
He started singing in Church as a child. This platform gave him the confidence to sing in front of large audiences. At age 13, he began singing with intention after he encountered the Holy Spirit. DeWayne realized that God had a plan for his life and that music was the path that He would use. Since then, Crocker became purposeful in making music.
When American Idol Season 18 called out for auditions, DeWayne was among those contesting to feature in the competition. He auditioned with the Song Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin and proceeded to the next round after the three judges voted Yes. In the following round, DeWayne sang Old Town Road by Lil Nas X ft Billy Ray Cyrus and proceed to Top 20 semifinalist. He was eliminated from contending for the Top 10 after his song I Feel Good by James Brown did not receive enough votes. In his departure, American Idol awarded him with a Golden Ticket to meet Lionel Richie.
Although he did not proceed to higher levels in American idol, the platform exposed him to a big audience, which related to his music. Since then, he has been releasing hits that have had positive feedback from the masses.
In 2015, DeWayne contested in BET: Sunday Best: Race to the Stage and won the competition despite being the youngest of the top 10 finalists. He has also written songs with Maverick City Music and continues to work with big Christian musicians such as Dante Bowe and Vashawn Mitchell.
Crocker had the privilege of singing during Serena William’s wedding. The Wedding was graced by celebrities such as her sister Venus Williams, Kim Kardashian, Kelly Rowland, Beyonce, and other stars.
