Kalilah Reynolds was born in Belize on 11th February 1983 but currently resides with her family in Jamaica. She is a mother to three children and the wife of surgeon Richard Reynolds. Kalilah had her first child when she was 19 years old before meeting her husband, whom she married in December 2015.

Education and Career

Her passion for journalism was clear when she was 5 years old. Her passion for writing and reading had her writing her first book at 7 years old. Her father got her interested in social affairs because he was a trade union leader. As she grew, Kalilah married her passion for social affairs and writing and from it, a desire to be a journalist was born.

She went to Fordham University where she did communication and Media Studies. Kalilah later went on to pursue a master’s in journalism at the University of West Indies.

After getting her degree, she got an opportunity at Krem Radio where she was a News editor for 3 years before moving to CVM TV as a broadcast journalist for another 3 years. She made it to the screen when she started serving as an anchor for CEEN in 2012 and later ventured part-time as a business journalist for Business Access TV, In Kingston, Jamaica.

Getting her hand into business, tapped into her deepest passion, financial literacy. She worked her way to becoming the host and reporter of the Nationwide News Network Morning program where she would get into the nitty gritty of events happening in the lives of Jamaicans.

As a reporter and anchor, she earned herself the Press Association of Jamaica Award for Business and Finance in 2017, the Press Association of Jamaica Award for Investigative Journalism in 2014, and the Nationwide News Network Most Outstanding Employee (News Department) in 2017.

As an employee at Nationwide News, Kalilah felt compelled to educate listeners about money and finances. In 2019, she launched a project called Taking Stock, where she could go deeper into financial issues that affect many people. After a positive response from her fans, she left her job to work full-time in her new venture.

Taking Stocks

Three years into launching her business, Taking Stock has expanded to social media features and podcasts titled Money MondaysJ, Money MovesJA, and What’s in it for Me. Her podcast and social media features have made Kalilah Reynolds a celebrity as she simplifies financial education. She has covered topics like creating your chatGPT, opportunities in tourism, and Prime Minister Andrew Holness’s Economy Update.

She has also had the opportunity to interview billionaire Michael Lee-Chin and has covered controversial stories like when Olympian Usain Bolt’s $12 million savings were stolen by his advisor. Kalilah Reynolds is particularly popular for campaigning for social media as a tool for making money. She recently revealed that she turned her followers on Instagram to customers and made from them $10,000 in less than a month after using AI to market her content.

She also added that the AI strategy helped her to increase engagement by 1,000% on her Instagram. Her ability to leverage her Instagram has earned her a reputation as a social media guru. She got invited to ‘ROI (Return on Investment): The Millionaire’s Summit’ in Puerto Rico to speak on the topic of ‘How to really make money from social media.
