As a student, she got an internship opportunity at Delaware North Companies in the control room where she assisted the camera crew when covering events and during broadcasts. She also served as an intern for New England Sports Network where she ran the teleprompter and provided technical assistance. After graduating, she started working at WVII/WFVX Bangor as a Night-Side Reporter and Anchor. She started as a reporter and worked her way to becoming an anchor. Karina was responsible for writing, editing stories, and shooting by the determined deadline.
She later left for Charleston, South Carolina to work as a reporter for WCSC-TV where she covered general assignment news. However, she would occasionally conduct interviews, write scripts and do web articles. She worked there for 3 years before leaving for WWBT/NBC 12 where she worked as a reporter for three years. In 2022, Borger hanged her journalist boots and joined Henrico County Police Division as a Media Manager. Her responsibilities are media planning, social media marketing and digital media.
Outside journalism, Karina works as a Hostess as a student for Tia’s Restaurant and Bar on the Waterfront. Her responsibilities were responding to customer needs, cleaning menus, and balancing checkbooks at the end of the day. She also juggled as a student and sales associate at American Eagle Outfitters responsible for organizing the store, maintaining cleanliness, and sorting through merchandise. She also did a job for Delaware North Companies as Game Day Events Staff who was tasked with controlling all arena television, shooting sports fan in attendance, and editing game footage.
