Liz Ortiz Biography
When the demands of her career called, Liz Ortiz never looked at her challenges. She knew she was bigger than raising her child on her own. The journalist knew it was possible to succeed because others had done it. And succeeding she did. Now, she serves as a reporter and anchor at WNCN in Raleigh, North Carolina. Prior to this position, she served at FOX 45, Spectrum Networks and as an intern at Fox 5. Her story is one of a setback and a major comeback.

She was born a Latino but grew up American. Her date and year of birth are 3rd May 1991. On top of her roles as a journalist, Ortiz is a mother to Laila. She got her child from a relationship she had in college. The relationship ended in separation and Ortiz had to take care of her child despite being a student.
Education and Career
The challenges did not dim the light she had within. From childhood, Ortiz was stationed to become a star. Her journey of success started when she was a student at Amityville Memorial High School. She later joined CUNY York College where she pursued a degree in journalism. Her pregnancy and motherhood did not prevent her from furthering her studies. Liz went for a master’s program at Southern New Hampshire University where she studied communications.
As a college student, she got an internship opportunity at Fox 5. She worked her way, convinced the organization, and became a permanent employee. Liz served as a News assistant, tasked with communicating with reporters, writing scripts, and pitching stories. She served at Fox for 2 years and moved to Greater New York to work for Spectrum News as a videographer. After 1 year, she was promoted to reporter and moved to Jacksonville where she stayed for 2 years.
In 2018, Liz joined Fox 45 Baltimore as a reporter and fill-in anchor. There, she learned to write, produce and edit stories. On a daily basis, she wrote articles for the website and did interviews on the weekends. After 2 years, she joined WNCN as a reporter and anchor. She has covered the story of Entrepreneur Jainaba Jenga who was on a mission to introduce African Cuisine to the world, she shared during thanksgiving ways to avoid foodborne illness, and how a Tik Tok video helped health practitioners to improve health care. She also reported a Duke study that argued that crossword puzzles improve memory more than computer video games.
Outside work
When Liz is not working, she is traveling around the country with her friends and her daughter. As she continues to demonstrate competency on the screen, she continues gathering more people in her corner because of her ability to balance motherhood and her career.
