Pursuing this dream landed her back in Arizona, where she met Jonathon Scibilia who works as a managing attorney at Edward Law Firm. The two would later become close friends and later husband and wife after tying the knot on 4th January 2017. Presently, they are blessed with two children.
Education and Career
Monica did her freshmen year at a Kansas Highschool and later transferred to another school in Mexico where she learned to speak Spanish. After graduating, Garcia joined the University of Texas El Paso for a degree in journalism.
Her career kicked off as a writer for NBC Washington. For 1 year, she wrote local stories, assisted in preparing newscasts, and did research on topics of interest. She also assisted in the coverage of Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to Washington. Her writing skills later earned her a job at KUSI television where she wrote stories and helped in producing evening newscasts. After 3 months, Monica joined NBC News as a Desk Assistant, researching, editing, and writing promos.
In 2012, she joined The San Diego Union-Tribune as a Morning News Reporter who represented the station to the community at events and fundraisers. She also filled in as a morning news anchor and as a host for Spotlight San Diego and did interviews on The Front Page program. After 2 years, she joined KVOA as an MMJ and reported for Tucson Today. She was also an article writer for KVOA’S Website.
In 2016, Monica became a weekend anchor for NBC 12 and ABC 25. On the weekdays, she served as a reporter for 5 pm and 6 pm newscasts. She generated stories such as Hurricane Mathews, the shooting at Orlando Night Club, and a series of crimes in Jacksonville. Monica also served as a fill-in anchor and morning traffic anchor.
In 2017, News 12 offered her an opportunity as a news reporter for KPNX-TV. Monica had the opportunity to cover Hurricane Florence and The campfire in California. She was also instrumental in creating stories and shoots for the station’s website and social media. In 2022, Monica made a U-turn to KVOA-TV as an evening anchor after serving at Gray Television and Meredith Corporation. She said she is pleased to return to Tuscus and hopes the audience will love her back.
