After graduating, she KOMU promoted her to the level of production assistant and after 8 months the organization made her a reporter and News anchor. After four years at KOMU, Monica transferred to WHO-HD in Des Moines, Iowa where she was a reporter and anchor for two years.
Her time at WHO helped her to hone her skills. She had the opportunity to interview presidential candidates and cover state legislatures, particularly on matters relating to Iowans. In 2021, she announced that she would be joining KXAN.
At KXAN, Monica has the opportunity to cover the first day back at school for Uvalde Students after the open shooting that killed 21 students and a teacher. She has also covered Texas Flash Floods, Roe V. Wade overturn and the banning of abortions, and the campaigns and elections in the Texas gubernatorial race.
