Shelbey Roberts, 27, is honored to be working in her dream job, the result of sheer hard work and passion. As of 2022, she is an award-winning journalist working as a reporter and anchor for WMBD. She has worked her way to becoming an influential figure and a dependable source of real information. Roberts has had previous experience at WMBF and FOX 28 News.

Shelbey was born on 16th May 1995 and grew up in Canton, Massachusetts. She comes from a hard-working family. Her father and mother have been her source of strength as she strived to achieve her dreams. She is also a sibling to her sister and brother. As of 2022, the young journalist is single. She has kept her career as her main goal. Shelbey is yet to start her family or have a husband.
Shelbey Roberts Education
Roberts had the desire to become a journalist since childhood. It was present when she was a student at Canton High School. The dream followed her when she was a student at the University of Michigan where she pursued a degree in communication studies.
As a student, she served as a communication intern in the Department of public health. She was tasked with updating and organizing videos for the communications office database. Roberts was also the voice-over talent freelancer, recording voice-overs for the school’s video productions and the national public service announcement.
She later got an opportunity at Google as a tech student outreach intern where she participated in skill-building workshops and learned about the Google business. She rose to the Global Student Ambassador representing the University of Michigan student body. Shelbey promoted the Google brand and educated students about Google’s products.
Shelbey Roberts Career
She started working at WMBF as a weekend reporter and news content specialist. Her responsibilities were creating news content for the station’s websites, editing videos, and shooting night shows. She was also tasked with conducting interviews and writing scripts.
Her breakthrough opportunity came when she joined FOX28 News as a Full-time nightside multimedia journalist whose responsibilities were spearheading the launch of 10 pm news. She also helped in doing interviews, creating scripts, and editing videos.
After 2 years of working at FOX, she got an opportunity to work as a morning news anchor, reporter, and noon producer. She served as a fill-in anchor for morning news and did breaking news. Three years into that position. the station promoted her to an evening news anchor for 5 pm, 6 pm, 9.30 pm, and 10 pm newscasts. She also served as a field reporter and editor for weekly business development.
Although she has had less than 10 years in the journalism field, her work has had tremendous influence, earning her major awards. In 2021, she was awarded the Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. When she was at FOX she received FOX 28 News Jefferson Awards Host. As of 2022, she has already received 2 awards: Pretoria Magazine’s 40 Leader Under Forty and WMBD Employee of the Month (July).
