Taryn Finley became a journalist for the black community after she saw many black people desiring to learn more about their people and the gap between white and black media. Now, she is living her dream and becoming an influential person in her community. She is skilled in reporting, doing live interviews, editing, and creating SEO content on Google and social media.

She was born in November 1991 in Dayton Ohio. She is a sibling to a brother and a sister, a small family of five people. Being born in a black community gave her the desire to learn and voice the needs of black people. Being an adult now, excelling in her career is her passion over doing relationships and marriage. Education and Career
Her passion for becoming a journalist started in high school when her class teacher offered the class an assignment to write, report, and produce a newspaper. The simple task birthed a journalist.
She started pursuing her career at Howard University where she majored in journalism. Trayn later went to Columbia to further her studies by doing a master’s in digital media.
While in Howard she got a 6 months opportunity to work in 101 Magazine as a features editor where she was tasked with managing writing staff, editing, and re-writing articles. She also got an opportunity to intern at Radio One in the digital marketing department. Her responsibilities were creating engaging content, assisting in production, and writing articles.
She started her major work when she interned at NBC Universal as a transcriber and news researcher. Before getting permanent employment, she also interned at Essence, Modern Luxury Magazine, and was a freelance writer at Fro-American Newspaper.
Finley is currently working as a freelance moderator on one on one live conversations on cultural topics, current events, and racial justice. She is also a senior culture reporter and black voices editor at HuffPost. Finley has worked her way up the corporate ladder since she joined as an editorial fellow.
After 5 months, HuffPost gave her a full-time job as an associate editor who managed social media content, increased social media influence on Instagram and did entertainment, politics, and social justice news on Facebook. After 2 years, she was promoted to senior culture reporter. Finley has a responsibility to pitch, write and report stories featuring black culture. She does interviews, produces original content, and writes newsletters to more than 50,000 subscribers.
