Tracy is a Brooklyn native born on 17th November 1985. Her real name is Tracy Garraud. She is the firstborn in a family of two girl children. She comes from a family where she was allowed to be herself. Tracy used this freedom to pursue what was on her mind. On matters of relationships, Tracy confessed to being a pansexual. She has been in relationships with both men and women. However, as of now, she is in a relationship with Joe Black, who is a corporate attorney. They celebrated their 6th anniversary in 2022.
Making of an Expert
In the beginning, Tracy was pursuing her mother’s dream of becoming a fashion designer. She tried studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology but dropped out after she realized fashion was not her calling. Quickly, she turned to Google as her go-to advisor to seek opportunities that would fit her desire. When writing came up, she chose it.
Tracy transferred to Pace University for media and communication studies. She landed internship opportunities that introduced her to the world of writing. Her best opportunity came when she landed an internship at VIBE. Working there was great as she was introduced to intense working and short deadlines. In her final months during the internship, she was slapped in the face when she was denied employment even after making connecting with top journalists in the print media in the hope of securing permanent employment.
Instead of wallowing in defeat, Tracy, then Tracy Garraud, became a freelance writer for Honey, Complex, and XXL. Working at these publications was a way to prepare her for what she wanted most. After some time, Tracy came back to VIBE as a full-time writer and editor.
Into the Sway
Tracy is not a believer if being a slave to one job. Coming to the end of 2011, Tracy began contemplating hanging her boots. The art of communicating with people was slowly creeping into her system. She started off in the radio business in 2012 with a fellow Pace graduate as a co-host for a podcast run by LRG.
Although it was a risky business, having that Podcasts was not that popular at that time, it exposed her to the media and music industry where she found her guardian angel, Amber Ravenel, who gave her a shot at Sway in the Morning. She took the opportunity and held on to it until it became part of her identity.
Since becoming the co-host of one of the biggest radio shows in the country. Tracy has been expanding her wings. She became a wellness coach and expert. She created a blog and a podcast, She’s Beauty and The Beast, where she addresses matters of spirituality, faith, and mental wellness.
