When the career bug hits you at a young age, you better follow it because you will most likely become what hit you. This happened to Stacy Rickard. She followed her guts and now she is serving as an anchor and reporter at spectrum news. Although she is at the on-set stages of her career, Stacy has been a journalist since middle school. Officially working as a journalist is a result of years of practicing.

She was born on 27th December 1993 in Austin but later relocated to New Braunfels where she grew up. The Christian values she learned from her parents have kept her and taught her the morals of life. On 29th October 2022, Stacy got married to her long-time boyfriend Joshua Brian or Rodgers. The two met on an online app, started talking for long hours, and finally had their first date. After 4 years of dating, they exchanged vows in 2022.

Education

The journey to becoming a journalist started in middle school. Her role model at that time was Kidd Kraddick. The desire to become like her encouraged Stacy to familiarise herself with journalism skills while in school. The passion became stronger when she joined high school.

She joined a journalism class in her freshman year and later the school’s newscast from sophomore to senior year. Stacy covered news in the school including sports. She decided to be intentional with journalism by joining the University of Texas, Austin for a degree in broadcast journalism.

At school, Mrs. Rodgers learned anchoring from actively involving herself in Texas Student Television. In her junior year, she was selected for a Los Angeles Program in Young Hollywood where she served as a media intern. There, Stacy gained skills in writing and publishing content on Young Hollywood’s website.

She also learned to navigate the station’s social media platforms which had more than 5 million followers. As a student, Stacy also worked part-time as a cashier at Sclitterbann Waterbann New Braunfels, West Campus Books, and at Breed and Co.

Career

After graduating, Stacy put her skills to the test by joining Fox’s affiliate station KJTV for FOX34 News. She served as an anchor from Friday to Sunday, as a general assignment reporter, and also as a Producer for Lubbock News Now aired every Friday. Stacy also managed the station’s Twitter account, which reached 40,000 users by the time she was leaving.

After 2 years, she joined Spectrum News 1 Texas in San Marcos as an MMJ. There, she covered local news, did interviews with community members, and did breaking news. She also filled in for reporters covering Austin and San Antonio. In 2020, Stacy relocated to Dallas to work for the same station.

Here, she is still an MMJ and on-the-field reporter. Her specialty is covering general news and breaking news. Due to her ability to penetrate the community, she has formed close relationships with the locals. Her major focus is coverage of politics, urban planning, and infrastructure in the area.
