Cherney Amhara Biography

How a story is told determines how people will perceive it. For journalists to excel in their jobs, they have to be passionate about the stories they are telling to present the best picture to the viewers. Cherney Amhara has been in the journalism industry and she is slowly firming her grip by the way she tells her stories. Right now, she is working as a weekday reporter and anchor at NBC News.

Before clinching this role, she worked at KVU Fox 5, CBS 19 News, KTLA, and at KCSN 88.5 FM. She also interned at various stations before making her way deep into the media sector. Amhara is skilled at writing, editing, pitching stories, and best of all telling stories.

She was born in Jamaica, on 3rd February 1993. Amhara relocated to California when she was a child. From there, she grew up American but with the knowledge and culture of her native land. As an adult now her career and relationships are a priority. We have observed that Amhara is in a relationship.

Growing up in California, the idea of telling stories and appearing on TV became a passion. She joined California State University where she did a degree in Broadcast Journalism with an emphasis on Spanish language. She was actively involved as a social media coordinator for the school’s Latino journalists.

Her career started when she joined CBS Radio as a production intern where she assisted in writing segments, and organizing live broadcasts. Amhara also interned at CBS News where she was given the responsibility of speaking in interviews, reading, and editing scripts.

Career

Her first instance as an employed journalist was at LA ch36 Valley View News Los Angeles where she was part of the web-production team. Amhara operated the teleprompter, wrote anchor scripts, and reported news stories. After 5 months, she moved to KCSN 88.5 as a reporter on health, culture, and current events. She did interviews on the phone and researched active stories.

After close to two years, Amhara went to KTLA in the web production team. She delivered scripts, wrote them for the morning news, and managed KTLA’s social media. She later joined CBS 19 News as a General Assignment Reporter in charge of breaking news, pitching news and fresh ideas, and posting stories on social media. The journalist worked there for close to 2 years before joining KVVU Fox5 where she covered big events such as the hostage killing at the Las Vegas Strip and Route 91 Mass Shooting.

Amhara worked at Fox for 2 years before relocating to Milwaukee County, to work as a weekend morning news anchor at Hearst. She served there for 3 years before moving to Miami, to work as a Weekend Morning Anchor and Reporter for NBC 6 South Florida.

Achievements and Salary

Her time as a journalist has been involved with coverage of news that has gone to as high as the national level. She has covered politics, crime, and business. Amhara did the story of protests at the Charlottesville Monument, the release of O.J. Simpson, and the Miller Brewery Shooting. She received an Emmy Award for doing an exclusive on Las Vegas Gangs. The Wisconsin Broadcaster Association also awarded her the Best Social Media Personality.

When she is not working, she loves traveling, doing photography, and spending time with loved ones. As a journalist, she gets a salary of approximately $65,000 a year. Her physical attributes are also something observed by her fans. She is 5 feet and 7 inches.
