Marvin Mitchell found his family in such a situation.
His grandmother worked for 36 years, saving her money only to lose all of it, never to enjoy it even to her death. The pain of seeing her grandmother suffering birthed a desire to help those nearing retirement. He studied the wealthy, read books on finances, and started Compass Retirement Solutions LLC. He also became a coach, speaker, and mentor.
Marvin Mitchell Personal Life
Marvin was born on 14th September 1984 in St. Louis. The 37-year-old came from a poor background and an unstable family. His dad was absent and abusive to his mother. The toxic relationship ended in separation, causing Marvin to live with his grandmother.
He watched his mother and grandmother work to provide for the family. From them, he learned the value of hard work and relationships. As a successful man, Mitchell is building a family he never had. He is married to Jessica and together they have two children.
Mitchell grew up poor. One time, his family lived in tents. The conditions surrounding his life did not dim his desire for a better life inside of him. He went for his high school studies at Parkway North High School and later at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville where he graduated with a degree in Mass Communication.
He became the first one in his family to graduate with a degree. One time, Marvin also attempted to study law at Texas University but his endeavor was cut short when his grandmother, Betty, fell ill with cancer.
Betty desired to see her family thriving, she invested her 401k savings in the stock market. Half of her money got lost almost instantly. By the time she breathed her last, Mitchell’s grandmother had almost lost everything. The bad financial advice prompted Mitchell to study wealth management and advice. He developed a desire to help people through their retirement.
Building a Financial Empire
His passion for financial advice landed him a job at Edward Jones where he worked for 5 years. He later moved to Cornerstone Wealth Management where he worked as a financial advisor for 2 years. Getting financial education, meeting financial experts, and helping many people secure their financial year prompted to start his own company.
In 2013, Marvin founded Compass Retirement Solution to provide financial advice to retirees and pre-retirees. In 2014, he joined The John Maxwell Company as a certified coach, teacher, and speaker providing leadership to individuals corporates, and businesses.
His company and career as a speaker have taken Marvin to many places across the United States. He has trained many people on financial matters, strengthening them and changing their mindset concerning money management.
He has also shared the stage with influential people like Myron Golden, TD Jakes, and Grandt Cardone. Marvin also authored two books, Retire Early: The 9 Critical Decisions When Retiring and Retirement Breakthrough: What Wall Street Brokers Don’t Want Conservative Investors to Discover.

Marvin is a great inspiration to young black people. He has built a multi-million business from the ground up.
