Senait Gebregiorgis Biography
It is a moment of pride when an African thrives in the soil of America. Senait Gebregiorgis a pride to both Africans and Black Americans. She excels in the field of journalism. She works as a News Reporter for WESH 2 News. The young reporter is skilled in doing interviews, on-field coverage, and pitching stories. Before her time at WESH, Senait worked at WHAS-TV, and FOX55, and was a blogger for Harlem Focus.
She is a first-generation immigrant born on 5th March 1995 or 1994 in Chicago, Illinois. Although Senait is American, she still identifies with her Eritrean roots. She celebrates the independence of the country and publicly practices its culture. The journalist is barely 7 years into the journalism business. Becoming excellent in journalism is her present priority. We have observed that she is single.
Education and Career
Her desire to excel in life was visible when she was a student at Lance Technical College Prep High School. She demonstrated the same zeal as a student at the University of Illinois Urbana where she did an African American Studies and Political Science.
She was actively involved in societies and associations in school. Senait was a resident advisor who promoted University policies, mentors new resident advisors, and resolve interpersonal conflicts. She was also the publicity chair of the school’s National Association of Black Journalists.
As a student, she got several opportunities to work as a journalist when she was a news writer and an on-air evening news anchor at The Daily Illini, and an on-air personality for WPGU 101.1. Senait also interned at WCIA for 4 months.
After graduation, she got her first job as a blogger for Harlem Focus where she wrote stories focusing on culture, art, and food. She worked there for three months before getting an opportunity at Fox55/27 as a multi-media journalist and a fill-in anchor. Senait was tasked with leading an investigation of the kidnapping and murder of University of Illinois Chinese Student, Yingying Zhang. She also did interviews, created digital content for social media engagement, and filled in as an anchor in evening shows.

After 3 years, she got a job at WHAS in Louisville, Kentucky Area as an MMJ doing similar jobs as her previous job. In the two years she worked there, Senait bagged 3 awards.: An Edward R. Murrow Award and an Emmy Award for doing a series on Louisville’s deadliest year called Save Our City 2020. She also bagged an Emmy for covering how a Kentucky man turned his obsession for sneakers into a booming business.
In 2021, she moved to Orlando, Florida to work as a news reporter for WESH 2 News. In the two years she has been there, Senait has covered the Pride Festival in Orlando, Hurricane Preparation at Sanford City, and November 2022 elections in Central Florida.
Outside work, Senait loves traveling and tasting new cultures. She is a self-proclaimed globetrotter. She also participates in community welfare through her membership in the National Association of Black Journalists.
Her physical attributes are also an inspiration to news watchers, especially black women. She is among those who have embraced curly hair and braids even while on TV as Autumn Robertson, Lauren Coleman, and Corallys Ortiz have done.
