Alanna Martella is many people’s favorite not only for her passion for storytelling but also for her ability to be vulnerable about her personal life. Currently, she works as an anchor on Local 5 This Morning at WFRV. Prior to occupying this position, Martella worked as a traffic anchor for WLWT and as a reporter for KTTC. She is also a co-host of a podcast called Girls with Gutts together with her friend Nicole Dambro.

She was born on 13th May 1991 in Cincinnati. She comes from a small family as the only child raised her two parents. Growing up in a complete family birthed her desire to start her own family. In April 2023, she succeeded in doing so after getting hitched to her long-time best friend Michael Parman an Onchorlogist who proposed to her in November 2022.

From a young age, Alanna has always been a curious child. While in kindergarten she won an award for Curious George after displaying a heightened desire for knowledge. This passion consumed Miss Martella even in her adulthood. She went to Ohio University to pursue a degree in Broadcast Journalism. While in college she got her first experience behind the desk, doing live interviews and being a source of news to many people.
In her sophomore, she got an opportunity to intern at WKRC-TV where she wrote stories, went out with reporters, and did projects with producers. In her junior year, she got a big opportunity to intern at CBB. Her responsibilities were assisting producers, receiving guests, preparing on-air interviews, and running the teleprompter.

After graduating she got her first taste as an anchor and reporter at KTTC TV. Alanna proved to many people her desire to be an authentic journalist when she bagged two Emmys for Best Evening News cast. Her excellence caught the attention of many media stations but WRTV was able to hook her up with an opportunity to work as a traffic anchor and multimedia journalist.
She served in this position for 2 years before moving back home to work for WLWT as a traffic anchor. In 2022, she announced her departure from WLWT and her new job at WFRV where she will serve as a morning anchor on Local 5 This Morning.
Alanna Martella Health Condition
One of her passions has been airing stories of children going through hardships. This passion stems from her own experiences with illness. On September 8th, 2008, Alanna Martell died but God gave her a second chance through the doctors. She caught sepsis because her intestines had twisted around each other.
During abdominal surgery, doctors removed close to 5 meters of her small intestine and replaced them with an ostomy bag. She went through a period of pain as she was trying to recover from the pain. She went through other surgeries where doctors removed the ostomy bag. 15 years through the pain, Alanna has emerged victorious. She is opens about her story and has been sharing her journey on her Instagram.
Although she conquered her illness it caused a reduction in egg supply, a condition that potentially threatened to leave her childless. Alanna chose to do IVF where she has 13 of her eggs produced. The doctors took out 8 of her eggs and were able to freeze 6 healthy and mature eggs. Although she might not be able to produce more eggs in the future, she has 6 eggs stored for the future.
Alanna Martella Podcast
The decision to come out open about her story is to inspire others to also feel seen. Together with her friend Nicole, Alanna started a podcast called Girls with Gutts. They share uplifting and inspiring stories of people who fought and won over chronic illnesses and their journey toward victory.
The podcast ran for one year and took a hiatus in 2022. The two ladies would probably be back some other time. In the podcast, they have had guests such as Lauren Nichols who suffers from a condition known as Long Covid, Leslie Jacobs-Toole, a double mastectomy warrior and Moyna John a Multiple Sclerosis Warrior.
Her passion for people going through illnesses earned her a position as a board member of Make-A-Wish, a nonprofit organization for children with critical health conditions.
