Steven Lawson Biography

Dr Steve Lawson is one of the pastors of old who have held on to salvation for close to 50 years. He is an example of God using a man from his youth to his old age. Dr. Lawson was born on 13th April 1951 to conservative parents. From them, he learned the value of living according to the Christian ways. Steven Lawson Education and Ministry
Lawson’s passion for the gospel had him studying theology at Texas Tech University. He later went to Dallas Theological Seminary for his master’s and later to Reformed Theological Seminary for his doctorate.
He started serving as a young pastor at the University of Baptist Church for one year before moving to the Bible Church of Little Rock as a senior pastor for 14 years.
In 1995, Mr. Lawson moved to Alabama where he became a senior pastor for Dauphin Way Baptist Church. After serving there for 8 years, he joined Christ Fellowship Baptist Church as the senior pastor before finding his ministry One Passion Ministries in 2015.
The purpose of his ministry is to stir a deep passion for the word of God and His glory to his people. The ministry has a deliberate desire to train pastors and preachers about expository preaching, which involves revealing the word of God in a simple and balanced way to the listeners. In this style of preaching, Dr. Lawson emphasizes the need to center every word of the preacher from the Bible. The ministry accomplishes its goals by hosting national and international conferences to train the attendants in the art and science of expository preaching. Dr. Steven’s passion for the gospel has earned him the opportunity to lecture masters and doctoral programs at The Master’s Seminary and also a board member of The Master’s Seminary and College. He is a Teaching Fellow with Ligonier Ministry and a Council Member of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals.

Steven Lawson’s Challenges as a Christian
Dr. Steven has faced many challenges in his ministry as a pastor, particularly when he was a young leader. One of the greatest challenges was preaching the doctrine of grace to an audience that lacked knowledge of the doctrine. He was, however, able to overcome these challenges by sitting strong under expository preaching, having a mentor, being surrounded by spiritually mature people, and being an avid reader of Christian books.
