Sijia Liu made her latest move as a journalist to CTV Kitchener where she will be serving as a weekend anchor and reporter. Prior to moving to Kitchener, she served as an anchor and reporter at CTV Windsor. Liu has also been a reporter for Global News, NESN, and Cogeco Media. Like most Asians living in Western countries, Sijai displayed an interest in academics. She went to York University where she earned a degree in psychology she later joined Seneca Polytechnic where she pursued broadcast journalism.
At York University she was a Media Coordinator for the school’s women’s basketball team where she was tasked with writing game reports, monthly newsletters, and putting content on social media. She later got an internship opportunity at CTV E-Talk where she posted content on Etalk’s social media outlets.
From 2017 to 2018, her journalism work inclined more toward sports where she worked as a sports reporter for Fanatics Views. Sijia interviewed players and wrote post-game reports. She also hosted a weekly Facebook Live broadcast and attended Toronto Raptors games. She also served as a Rinkside Reporter in the Ontario Hockey League where she did in-depth game analysis, interviewed players post-game, and filled in as a studio host. In 2019, Liu worked as a Toronto-based contributor for NESN where she conducted locker-room interviews with coaches and players.
The same year, Sijai moved to Global News as a Morning Live Reporter. Her responsibilities were generating original and relevant story ideas and writing content for multiple platforms., She also filled in as a weather anchor and conducted live on-air interviews in the studio and on location. Miss Liu served at Global News for 9 months before joining CT Windsor as an 11 p.m. News anchor. She worked here for 3 years before moving to Kitchener in 2023 as a weekend anchor and a fill-in weather presenter.

In her career as a journalist, Sijai has had the opportunity to spend a whole weekend anchoring her first national newscast for CTV News Channel. Sijai Liu has done local coverage like the crisis of Royal City Mission, an organization responsible for feeding thousands of homeless people in Kitchener. The journalist also covered the record-breaking heat in Kitcherner-Waterloo in 2023.
