Rachel Schoutsen Biography

Nothing gives a person more speed in life than to realize their dream in their childhood. Rachel SchoutSen is among the lucky few. At 10 years old, she had known she would be a weather specialist.

Now in her adulthood, she is working as a morning show host for The Weather Network. She travels across the globe and Canada gathering and reporting informative and interesting news to the station’s audience. Prior to her opportunity at TWN, Rachel worked at Beat The Traffic and Rogers TV

She is a Canadian native born on 13th August 1991/2. The 31/2-year-old comes from a Christian catholic family and has had a preference for Catholicism in her adulthood due to its mentorship programs. She comes from a mixed race as her father was originally from the Netherlands. Rachel has a fraternal twin brother.

She is also married to her long-time boyfriend Daniel Price Owens. They met in a bar and their relationship kicked on from there. They got married in 2019 on New Year’s Eve. Their marriage was blessed by a beautiful daughter called Emma Elizabeth.

Rachel began pursuing her career in weather at Father Michael Goetz secondary where her teachers and fellow students quickly realized her passion for being on Television. She went hard for her passion when she joined Wilfrid Laurier University where she did a degree in broadcast journalism. Before graduating, she took a year course studying videography at Conestoga College.

With academic credentials and a passion for journalism on her side, she joined the Canadian corporate world. Rachel Schoutsen started as a weather Presenter for Rogers Brantford TV where she did informative shoots within the community and collaborated with a team to create daily shows.

After two years, Rachel interned at The Weather Network where she learned to use social media to reach an online audience and write scripts for live presenters.

Rachel later joined Beat the Traffic as a presenter and a field reporter. She got an opportunity to cover weather situations like storms, report on the Traffic smartphone, and also do daily weather updates.

She later moved to Ontario as a content creator and weather presenter for The Weather Network. She held on to this position for 10 years before she got a promotion to weekend morning show host for the same station. Rachel has the added responsibility of doing live updates on CNC News Network.

Rachel covers more than the weather. She does reports on tips that can help people during a specific weather. She has written a report on how quercetin, apigenin, and allicin can boost the immune of people suffering from cold and flu. Rachel also has a report on how farmers can grow pumpkins.

The weather specialist also did a report answering whether wildfire smoke can cause lung issues for life. In the report, Rachel shared that some of the effects of wildfires can be anxiety, depression, and mental health illness for people who suffer evacuation.

The report was not conclusive on whether wildfires affect breathing but studies on monkeys show the existence of lung function problems for their entire life after an acute exposure to the wildfires.

Rachel Schoutsen is an example of a woman who has been passionate and consistent about her career of choice despite choosing it at 10 years old. At just 30 years old, she has done much. We can only expect more from her. In Canada, she shares the same passion for weather as Julie Atchison.
