Her roles were conducting interviews, editing videos, and researching stories. Later, she interned at Fisher communication in the news department where she produced, wrote scripts, and reported while on site. She officially started working at Oregon Daily Emerald as a Copy Chief who edited work by staff and freelance writers to guarantee the accuracy of facts. After one year, she relocated to Boise, Idaho to work for KIVI-TV as a reporter, producer, and weather specialist. She worked there for two years, writing scripts, editing, and anchoring weekend weather.
In December 2007, Brandi started working at Chambers communications as an Evening anchor. She was the youngest main anchor in the market. Smith covered the story of Colonel Jim Dutton who dreamt of becoming an astronaut and the Toys for Tots campaign.
