Andrew Donovan Education and Career
Andrew went to school at Whitesboro High School where he was actively involved in the student newspaper, the strategic planning committee, and Student Council. He later joined Hobart and William Smith Colleges where he pursued a degree in Political Science and History. He was active in organizing and creating stories for The Herald, the school’s newspaper.
Andrew displayed a passion for working at a young age. While he was in high school, the young man worked at Assist 2 sell as an office assistant. His responsibilities were managing systems, organizing paper work, maintaining computers, and answering telephones. While in college, Andrew interned at NBC News in the office of Cheryl Gould who was the senior vice president. He was behind the scenes during the coverage of President Barack Obama’s second Inauguration.
He later joined NBC Universal, the parent media company, as a fill-in executive assistant to Lisa Gersh who was the president of strategic initiatives in the organization. Andrew started working at Hobart and William Smith Colleges as a Social Media coordinator whose responsibility was developing content for the school’s social media platforms. All this time, he was working as a reporter and digital media producer for WKTV NewsChannel 2. Here he also managed the media outlets’ social media pages. He left WKTV to join NewsChannel 9 at WSYR as a reporter who created evening newscasts and reported breaking news of the day. After 9 years, Andrew was promoted to the level of the host of News Makers, a show that focuses on local public affaits and airs them every week.
