Gia Peppers Biography

Black people in senior and on-screen positions have the responsibility of voicing the needs of black Americans because of their influence. Gia Peppers,32, has been at the forefront of advocating for black people as a host for programs that address issues faced by black people. She is an award-winning journalist, podcaster, and content creator. Pepper is famous for her work as a contributor to Today Show.

She was born on 6th September 1990 in Washington. Peppers comes from a supportive family who has seen her grow in her career. Gia took her father’s steps and become a journalist just like he was at NBC. On a video her father had recorded when she was a child, Peppers told his friends that she would become a broadcast journalist. 30 years later, her childhood dream became a reality.

Gia also comes from a faith-based family where she learned to respect the value of morals and family. She has kept them in her old age and continues observing family values. She is yet to have a husband as her priorities remain her career. As of 2022, Gia Peppers is single.

Education

Having learned her passion early in life, Peppers had determined to become a singer and actress. However, she obliged her mother’s advice telling her to focus on education first. She went to St. John’s College High School and later to Rutgers University where she did Journalism and Media Studies and minored in theatre.

Pepper learned from her father that succeeding as a journalist did not require a master’s degree but internship opportunities. This became her focus since joining the university. At age 18, she did her first internship at WPCG with Donnie Simpson as her boss. There she learned about production, arranged the studio for interviews, and helped in creating content for the organization’s blog. This experience encouraged Pepper to go hard for her dream.

She became a Morning Show Intern for The Big Tiger. Pepper helped in researching entertainment stories and posting them on the website. She also did commercials. Gia later got an opportunity for Rutgers University’s student-run website, itsonBad.com, as a writer.

She worked there for five months before getting an opportunity at The Wendy Williams Show as a production intern. Her responsibilities were researching guests appearing on the show and helping the show run smoothly. In 2010, Gia got an opportunity with BET where she helped in casting.

Her breakthrough came in 2012 when she got an opportunity at CBS News as a Radio News Desk Associate. Here, Gia was responsible for a large audience feeding them information on Twitter and Gmail accounts.

She was also responsible for staying up to date with breaking news. Pepper later got a luxurious opportunity to work with an international luxury car brand, BMW. There she was responsible for operating an international brand and handling requests for advertisement approval.

While at it, she hoped on to the entertainment industry as a freelancer reporter, host, and writer. She worked with various publications such as Juicy Magazine, XXL, Vibe Vixen, Karen Civil, theGrio, and Enstars.com. She had the opportunity to interview celebrities like Sevyn Streeter, Sebastian Mikael, Jason Biggs, and more.

Her biggest opportunity came when she got an opportunity at Essence Magazine as an associate editor where she was the senior editor responsible for creating daily content, managing social media presence, and interviewing celebrities and public figures. While at Essence she got the privilege of interviewing power couple Sarah Jakes and Toure Roberts.

Another big opportunity came when she got a job at Monumental Sports and Entertainment as a co-host for the Washington Wizards. Now she is a Television host for Black Girls Beauty and BET’s Black Coffee, programs that look forward to promoting black women, and host of the Entertainment Tonight Digital Show, The Download.

She started her YouTube series Give You the Game, which is under her own company Pepper and Prospect Production. Pepper also started the Podcast Black Girl Podcast, which is another avenue of bringing Black women together and addressing issues facing them. In 2022 she launched More Than That Show, platforms designated to communicate stories that impact and influence black American listeners. In the show, Gia seeks to address inequities in the advertising supply Chain. She has interviewed influential black people like Chef Akhi Taylor, Kimberly Drew, and Baratunde Thurston. The show was nominated for a NAACP Image award in the Outstanding Society & Culture Podcast Category in 2023.

Through her hustle and hard work, Peppers has been able to climb the ladder of influence in the entertainment industry. She influences Instagram and YouTube. She is part of the National Association of Black Journalists, which addresses issues facing black journalists.
