The desire to become a meteorologist started early in the age when she watched The Day After Tomorrow. Her interest led her to CUNY York college where she studied environmental science for 1 year. She later went to Brooklyn College to study Bachelor of Science in Geological and Earth Sciences. After graduating, she joined Penn State World Campus for certification in Weather forecasting.
Overall, for the 6 years Hope has been in the meteorology department, 3 she has spent as an intern, and 3 as an employee. As a student, she worked as a corporate trainer for Allure Marketing Group where she learned to interview candidates, conduct workshops, and analyze company sales per week.
She later joined NBC News as a weather intern. During the two times she interned there, Hope became familiar with weather journalism. She learned to produce weather forecasts, research and study different weather conditions, updating detailed weather forecasts on NBC’s website and social media accounts.
In July 2019, she joined News 12 as a meteorologist where she analyzed and recorded data from global weather stations, used technology to obtain weather data, and responded to weather events from urgent newsrooms. She was also responsible for shooting and editing weather material, writing and sending out weather briefs, and working out with the weather team to provide severe weather situations.
In her career journey, Hope has covered landmark stories such as Hurricane Ian, Hurricane Mather, and heat waves in Canada and in the United States. Her certificate as a weather forecaster has also earned her consulting opportunities. In 2021, She briefly worked as a weather producer at ABC for 11 months. She was responsible for interpreting weather patterns and advice on the next actions.
