Imani-Lara Lansiquot is a 24-year-old world-silver medallist, gold medallist, and European Finalist. She comes 4th in the list of the fastest all-time 100M athletes in the Uk. She finished in record 11.09 seconds in 100 meters race, earning her position in UK all-time fastest runners, women’s category.

Lara is the daughter of Terry and Richard who is Head of School at Camberwell’s Sacred Heart Catholic School. Lansiquot is of Saint Lucian descent but she was born on 17th December 1997 and bred in Peckham, London. Her parents had disagreements naming her as Richard wanted her to be named Braina Lara, after a famous Cricketer, but her mother refused the name Briana but later accepted Lara. Lara grew up in a family that supported her choice of career and preference. She is naturally drawn to having a family. Lara is in a relationship with Ojie Edoburun, who is also a 100m runner. The two have been dating for over a year as of 2022.

Like most people, Lara was encouraged to seek education. She went to King’s College in London where she pursued Psychology. In an interview with Athletics weekly, the athlete confessed the difficulty she had in balancing school work and training. She sought advice from the fastest woman in the UK, Dina Asher-Smith, who encouraged her to strive to get balance in her in education and passion.

Lansiquot’s career journey has been impressive. She demonstrated talent at age 15 when she ran and won the Surrey Schools Championship in 11.98 seconds and later in 11.91 seconds in the English Schools Championships. In 2016, she participated in the World U20 Championships and ran 11.17 seconds, which is second to Asher-Smith’s record of 11.17 set in 2014.

The year 2018 was her best as she ran 11.19 seconds in her heat in the Anniversary Games in London and later improved to 11.11 in the final, earning her position on the UK all-time runners list. The same year at Berlin European Championships, Lara finished 6rh and won a gold medal in the 4 X 100 relay.

In 2019, she moved to fourth place in the UK all-time list after finishing her 100 meters heat in 11.09 secs. In Doha world Championship 201, she became the fastest looser for running 11.31 seconds and later winning silver in the relay. She became the British Champion in 2020 after winning her heat in 11.26 seconds in the 2020 British Athletics Championships.

In 2022 she participated in European Championship Munich in the 4×100 relay where she ran together with Philip, Nelson, and Asher-Smith. The team finished last in the race. Together with the fastest woman in the UK, Lansiquot participated in 100m heat. She finished 5th after running for 11.21 seconds.
