After resigning from the government Kemi Badenoch announced her candidacy officially a the Policy Exchange Think Tank. The zealous politician comes loaded with promises to make the Conservative party the ideal party for British Citizens. She promised to defend the free market, stating it was the fairest way people can prosper. Kemi also promised to stabilize the economic situation in British by reducing foreign aid, student loan, supporting workplace diversity, and improving the lives of well-being officers.

Ms. Badenoch’s interest in leading the Conservative Part came after Boris Johnson the incumbent party leader announced his resignation in July 2022. Kemi Badenoch was among the eight candidates confirmed to participate in the election after getting the support of at least 20 conservative MPs. Kemi Badenoch was born Olukemi Olufunto Adegoke. Her parents, Femi Adegboke and Feyi Adegoke are Nigerians. She was born on 2nd January 1980 in Wimbledon, London after her parent traveled to London for medical treatment. Her father worked as a medical practitioner and her mother as a lecturer in the US. The family returned to Nigeria; but, returned to London after conditions in Nigeria became unstable. While in London, she met her husband Hamish Badenoch, former Tory Councilor and a banker at Deutsche. The family is blessed with three children: two sons and a daughter.

After relocating to London from Lagos, Kemi enrolled at the University of Sussex where she pursued Computer Systems Engineering. She later did a degree in Law at Birbeck College.

The decision to settle in London was never political. She never knew her ambition would one day make her a contender for the Prime minister of British. Her main focus was escaping poverty back at home. She worked at McDonald’s as a waitress and later as a software engineer at Logica after graduating. Her next carer opportunity was as a system analyst at Royal Bank of Scotland and later as the associate director.
Her interest in politics sparked while studying law. At age 25, Badenoch joined the conservative party. Since then, she has moved up the political ladder with tremendous speed. She started as a member of the London Assembly as the 9th additional member and later as the 4th additional member. In 2017, Ms. Badenoch campaigned and won the parliamentary seat for Saffron Walden. During Boris Johnson’s tenure as the Prime Minister, Badenoch has served as Parliamentary Under-secretary of State for Children and Families, Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Equalities. She became a minister of state for equalities in 2021 and later Minister for Local Government, Faith, and Communities. She resigned from the government in 2022 to run for leadership of the conservative party, which would translate to the prime minister of the nation.
