Education
In her mind, Marcine Joseph was going to be in the field of Information and technology. She did a degree in information and technology at Florida International Technology and minored in journalism. Marcine decided to do journalism because she was selected for a media scholarship program called The Emma Bowen Foundation, which offered paid internships to high school graduates and their college tuition.
In the four years the program ran, Marcine interned at NBC 6 in the department of production, writing scripts and reporting. Having experienced journalism, the news bug hit her.
Back at school, Joseph was a multimedia intern who ran the school’s sports website, updating the games and the player profiles. She also had interviews with players and coaches.
Career
Her career officially began when she got a job at WPLG as an assignment editor. For the three years Marcine worked there, she got involved in the details of journalism as she was responsible for assigning reporting roles to reporters, providing information to reporters, anchors, and producers, and engaging with online audiences on social media. Occasionally, Marcine would fill in as a traffic reporter and create content on the station’s website. Some of the major stories she covered were the untimely death of rising music star XXXtention death and the Stoneman Douglass shooting.
Seeing she was excellent at reporting, Marcine created a reel that landed her a job at WWSB-TV where she worked as a multimedia journalist. Her main tasks were assisting in the production and preparing multi-media stories, pitching daily news, and gathering and verifying accurate information regarding news stories.
She returned back to South Florida at NBC as a reporter and freelance MMJ. For 11 months, she did reports, created content on social media and newspapers, and learned to edit videos. In January 2022, she relocated to Jacksonville, Florida to work for CBS 47 FOX 30 in the Action News Jax as a traffic anchor and news reporter. For the 1 year she has been there, Marcine has been helping Jacksonville residents with real-time traffic updates and creating traffic graphics.
