In 2019, Multi-level companies made $35.2 billion in retail sales and engaged roughly 6.8 million direct sellers, distributors, or consultants. No matter how much money the companies make, Josie Naikoi aka No the Good Girl dubs them illegal and toxic for humans.

Most MLMs have been accused of practicing sales using a pyramid scheme, which is illegal.  The companies counter these claims by arguing that they use a marketing strategy to get their products to customers.

Naikoi’s story, however, is different. She was at the top of an MLM. As much as the MLM says they don’t practice a pyramid scheme, the amount sellers make depends on the number of people recruited. Naikoi was tired of these hidden schemes.

She quit the job in 2019 and decided to expose their hidden agenda on her YouTube Channel called Not the Good Girl. The posted video immediately attracted the internet users’ attention, impelling most of them to ask about her personal life and experience with MLM companies. We gathered from different sources and created a minibiography describing Naikoi’s life.

Josie Naikoi MLM Story

Although Josie was working as a hairstylist, she was not making enough to meet her bills. She was sinking deep into medical debt and her sister depended on her for finances. Owing to her situation, Josie naively joined a multi-level marketing organization selling and promoting health and fitness products.

In 2015, she quit her hairstylist job and went full-time as a seller for the MLM. One year later, she was at the top of the company. Josie enjoyed a six-figure salary. With this money, she was able to pay her medical debt and take her half-sister to a university in Kenya. She referred to herself as an online business coach. Josie also created an online course and a podcast called  You Can Do Better Bitch

However, things began turning against her. In 2017, her earnings dropped at a higher rate despite working harder and marketing more. She left the company and joined another but the results were the same.

By  2019, she had joined three different MLM companies, all of them giving her the same results. It was then that she realized the companies were manipulating the sellers with the commissions and during the recruitment processes.

The stress of making money for the company affected her health and her friends. She left the company in 2019 and decided to expose it the following year.

In the YouTube video, she exposed the strategies companies use to recruit members. She also explains how the company’s toxic culture affected how she related with her friends and family.  In May 2021, the YouTube video attracted more than 770,000 views.
