Rachel Vadaj is an American journalist working for 19 News as an Assignment Desk Editor, Digital Content Producer, and Traffic Reporter. She currently serves as the host of Cleveland Now which follows up on events happening around Cleveland. Vadaj also did Cleveland Auto Show, an automobile series.

Becoming a journalist was never in her mind. Growing up, Vadaj dreamt of being a dancer. She earned her first salary as a Ballerina in Ballet San Jose’s Production of The Nutcracker. Joining high school, however, opened her up to new areas in which she could dispense her energy. She joined Riverside Highschool in Ohio and joined the cheerleading team.

Vadaj was zealous about the team that she earned a position on the All-America Team. As she advanced in high school, Vadaj developed a desire for journalism. She joined the school’s journalism society and participated in reporting and anchoring school news. She also joined various societies as she was convicted that journalism involves leadership. Rachel was specifically involved in anti-bullying societies.

In 2013, Vadaj joined John Caroll University where she demonstrated the same energy and desire for television. She was the sports director and later the President of the campus television News, JCTV-4. Far from journalism duties, Rachel served as the captain of the JCU Dance Team. She later graduated Cum Laude Honors.

Finding a job after graduation was difficult. However, she was up to show how much she was passionate about journalism. Vadaj developed journalism skills when she interned at WJW Fox 8’s Friday Night Touchdown. She was confident her skills were valuable. After some time, she got hired at 19 News in Cleveland as a host, Digital Content Producer, and Assignment Desk Editor.
